  2007-10-13
yesterday I worked at home. There was no call for filming. Boring! Today I slept in. I had All-Bran for breakfast. For lunch I had pizza. I make it using flatbread, pizza sauce, meat, shreeded cheese, olives and anchovie paste. For meat I've been using the leftover turkey from thanksgiving. Then i painted a picture and started another. But I'm a little tired and lacking enthusiasm.
Tom asked me if I wanted an all-expense paid trip to the Calgary dump (ha! ha!). he's getting rid of the fridge, mattresses, microwave and other junk. After that we went to pick up a new(er) fridge, stove and credenda. After unloading the new things he picked up I made myself dinner - you guessed it - a pizza made with leftover turkey.
That evening Tom and I went down the street to Blockbuster to rent three videos: iwo Jima, Fracture and Breach. That night we watched Letters from iwo Jima. I really enjoyed it. It gave the story from the Japanese perspective. Now I'm running low on food - intentionally. So it's hard to get something to eat as a snack because there isn't much choice. But I don't want to leave a lot of food behind.
2007-10-11 I woke up at 6 a.m.for a 7 a.m. call. My wife forgot to call me. but that's o.k. Tim the policeman called me at 6:30 this morning. He dropped by to pick me up. That was a nice change. When Ii got there I had scrambled eggs, ham, bacon, waffles with maple syrup, fruit, yogurt, and coffee. At wardrobe I noticed that I was missing the bottom of my wetsuit and my tunic. Great! And when i was changing two of the wardrobe girls saw me. I think that by the time the movie is through I will have been seen by all the wardrobe girls. Yeah, what a treat for them LOL!!!
So today I'm supposed to be a Black Devil. But one of the triangles was missing when I ripped away the square for the 10th. So I had to get another one and sew it on.
Now it's almost afternoon. We are all sitting to the east of the action on the other side of the road. We saw Paul [deleted because it would be a plot spoiler]. They passed out water and sandwiches. I had the BBQ meat on a Kaiser. It was good. This is the first day that I brought my sunglasses to set and I'm glad. It is so warm and sunny. It brings back memories of the St-Bruno shoot last year.
Just a recap from this morning - When I showed up I was told that I was a Canadian. Then I had to change to 8th batallion (Black Devil) - so I removed the patch for the 10th. Then I was told that we would all be Germans. Then Curtis told me that I should not be a German - that continuity thing. Apparently I was too evident as a Canadian. So I had to sew my patch back on.
So I went to the filming location and sat around and watched and watched. It was the part where Paul [removed because it is a plot spoiler]. I had a great view of it.
We broke for lunch. It was very warm so I I removed the tunic and webbing. For lunch I had broiled salmon, rice, carrots, peas, and salad.tortilla chips with meat salsa, date or raisin bar, fruit cup and milk.

In the afternoon Phil gave us a safety lecture about the helicopter and told us what would happen. So lined up. they wanted me deep, because I had already been seen on camera prominently.
The helicopter with the camera mounted on the nose came and did a practice run on the field on the other side of the road. I placed myself ass-up at the end of the road and waited until the sun went into the clouds. Then the helicopter made all kinds of passes. Once or twice it came really close, maybe passing 20 feet above me. After that I was told that I was not needed and sat the rest of the time out. They told me that I got home at 20:00.
